How do I get started?

Insured Guard is currently in an invitation-only beta. Once you have access, create your account and a guided setup walks you through connecting your insurance, syncing your claims, and adding your bills.

How do I connect my insurance?

Pick your insurer and sign in with your member account. If your insurer sends you a verification code, you enter it in Insured Guard and we carry on. We then fetch your coverage details and claims for you, so there is no manual data entry.

What if my insurer isn't listed yet?

For now, Insured Guard works only with Aetna and Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of NJ. If your insurer isn't one of these yet, hang tight. We're actively adding more, so check back soon.

Are my insurer login details stored?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and they are stored securely. Your insurer login is encrypted and used only to retrieve your coverage and claims on your behalf, so you can refresh your data any time without entering it again. You can remove it whenever you like with Disconnect on your insurance card.

How often is my data updated?

We try our best to refresh your coverage and claims from your insurer about once a month. Some insurers ask for a verification code every time someone signs in, and we can't skip that step. If yours does, we'll ask you to enter the code before we can update your data. You can also refresh any time from My Insurance.

Do I have to give you my insurer login?

Accepted Answer

No. You can choose Skip setup and add everything yourself, without ever sharing your login. In My Insurance, add your insurer and choose "Manually upload your documents" to add your insurance card and Summary of Benefits. Then upload your EOBs, bills, and receipts in My Documents. EOBs need to be the PDF you download from your insurer's website. We still check everything for overcharges and savings once it's in.

Why does my plan have more than one coverage period?

Plans reset every year, either on January 1 or on your plan's anniversary date, and your deductible and out-of-pocket totals start over. We split your coverage into separate periods, each with its own claims and numbers. Use the period switcher in the top bar to move between them.

What documents can I upload?

In My Documents you can add EOBs, medical bills, invoices, receipts, and out-of-pocket statements. Insurance cards and SBCs are added during insurance setup, not here.

Can I upload from my phone?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Choose the "Use your phone" option and scan the QR code. Photos you take of your bills and receipts appear on your computer automatically.

Which file types are supported?

Bills and receipts can be PDF, JPG, PNG, or iPhone photos (HEIC). EOBs need to be the PDF you download from your insurer's website, because we can't read photos or scans of an EOB yet. Out-of-pocket statements can be CSV or Excel. You can add up to 50 files at a time, each up to 5 MB.

How long does processing take?

Most documents finish in the background within a few minutes, and a large batch takes longer. You can keep using the app while it works, and the page shows when each document is done.

How does Insured Guard find savings?

We match each bill to the claim it belongs to and compare what you were billed against what your plan actually covers. Where they disagree, that is a billing discrepancy, and it often means you overpaid.

What do you check for?

We run dozens of automated checks across your bills, your EOBs, and your plan. For example: Bills that ask for more than your insurer says you owe. The same service billed twice, or a bill you have already paid. Copays, coinsurance, or deductibles that don't match your plan. Deductible and out-of-pocket totals your insurer didn't credit correctly. Math errors on your bill or your EOB.

What is a discrepancy?

A discrepancy is when what you were billed doesn't match what your plan covers. For example, an invoice that charges you more than your plan says you owe means you overpaid.

How do I get my refund?

When we find money you're owed, open the finding and choose "Draft a message." We write the message for you, addressed to your provider or your insurer, with the details that back up your case and the contact information we have for them. You send it yourself, and the refund comes to you from them. If the refund still hasn't arrived after 30 days, we'll remind you.

Why am I asked to match a bill to a claim?

When we can't confidently match a bill automatically, we ask you to pick the matching claim (or, for a receipt, link it to an invoice or mark it as out-of-pocket) so the numbers reconcile correctly.

Is my data private and secure?

Yes. Your information is encrypted and used only to analyze your coverage and bills. We never sell your data.

Can I delete my data?

Accepted Answer

Yes. From your Account settings choose "Delete all my data" to delete your documents, claims, insurance records, and saved insurer login at any time. Your account stays open.

How do I close my account?

Accepted Answer

In your Account settings, choose "Close my account." We delete your documents, claims, insurance records, and saved insurer login, and sign you out. After that you can no longer log in. If you change your mind, contact support.
